New Song: Rihanna, 'You Da One'

With just 10 days left until she finally takes the muzzle off of her ridiculously anticipated sixth studio album, Talk That TalkRihanna's decided to bless us all with a brand-new song: her second single, "You Da One."
Just after she's gone and found love in a hopeless place, the "S&M" seductress continues the love affair on her "You Da One," which premiered this morning on "On Air with Ryan Seacrest." The song, produced by hitmaker Dr. Luke (Britney SpearsKe$ha) and penned by the ever-talented Ester Dean, plays something like a cross between Rihanna's Rated Rsmash "Rude Boy" and Loud's "Man Down" with its fresh, island-influenced vibe and a thick, throbbing mid-tempo beat that only the good Doctor can provide.
"Yes, I'm kind of crazy/That's what happens, baby/When you put it down, you shouldn't have given it to me good like that," Ri swoon-ily sings. Woof! A little bit sweet, a little bit seductive -- as only the Bajan beauty can serve on the regular. Just when the giving's getting real good, hang tight for the song's mayjah middle eight, as RiRi gets squeezed between a killer dubstep-to-death breakdown, not unlike the ex-sexin' jam Dr. Luke crafted for Britney's Femme Fatale cut, "Inside Out."
Big surprise, "You Da One" is yet another smash hit for the Bajan pop princess! And judging by the Talk That Talk reviews pouring in, it sounds like we're in for a whole lot more very soon. November 21 CANNOT come soon enough.

Coldplay Covers Rihanna’s 'We Found Love'

Though it's not an official single, Rihanna and Coldplay's duet "Princess Of China" off the band's Mylo Xyloto disc is already No. 4 on iTunes -- BALLER STATUS. So Coldplay decided to say a quick "Thanks" to their girl Ri by covering her latest smash "We Found Love" during their stop at BBC's Radio 1 Live Lounge.
As you might expect, Coldplay completely reworked Rihanna's Calvin Harris-produced club jam and turned it into a soft, uptempo ballad. Led by a piano melody, Chris's voice puts a new spin on the dance-pop track: "Yellow diamonds in the light/Now we're standing side by side/As your shadow crosses mine/What it takes to feel alive/It's the way I’m feeling, I just can't describe/It's the way I'm feeling now." Chris throws in a few of his signature falsetto notes too, just in case anyone didn't think this cover was emo enough.
I know we're supposed to focus on the music and all, but can we just take a second to imagine Chris Martin as the leading man in the vid? Going on a drug-fueled binge with Rihanna and trying to win her affection by pulling off some dope moves at the skate park?! He's such a good little British boy! He would never! Also, original video stud Dudley O'Shaughnessy (A.K.A. the BOXER who punches things) and wifey Gwyneth Paltrow might have something to say about that

Adele Battles Vocal Issues

Claiming serious vocal problems, Adele – the bestselling artist of 2011 – canceled her second run of U.S. dates this year on October 4th. The soul superstar has yet to announce when she'll return. "If I continue to pick up everything before I have properly conquered these problems and nipped them in the bud, I will be totally and utterly fucked," she wrote on her website. "Singing is literally my life, it's my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever."

The condition she's suffering from, a vocal hemorrhage, generally doesn't require the extensive break Adele is taking, according to several top throat surgeons. But because Adele has suffered repeat injuries, she could need the kind of throat surgery Aerosmith's Steven Tyler underwent in 2006. (He was singing again within five months. Graham Nash and Elton John have had similar issues.) "It's very fixable, basically," says Tyler's doctor, Steven Zeitels, a Harvard professor and director of the Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation at Massachusetts General Hospital. "This is not something that's a deal breaker, even remotely."

Given that Adele's 21 has sold more than 4 million copies this year in the U.S. and she's barely toured here, promoters say demand for a major tour is enormous. The good news? Concert-industry sources tell Rolling Stone Adele is planning to return to the road by next year. "She's holding arenas," says a source with knowledge of her schedule. Adds another, "For a while, they were hopeful of arenas this fall, and then it started moving into next year."

Fans who can't wait will have to make do with the live DVD Adele is releasing November 29th, shot at a recent Royal Albert Hall performance. "We felt it was important to capture and document a show in what has turned out to be a record-breaking year," says manager Jonathan Dickins, who declined to comment on Adele's vocal issues. "There was no better place to do this than in London, her hometown."
